Planeteria, Inc. was hired to redesign the San Francisco Zoo Web site. This capture shows a visually alluring site that is easy to scan and navigate.

We needed to do an overhaul of our site for a variety of reasons. One big reason for a redesign was an outdated content structure that did not reflect our business goals. Another key problem with our site was that people visiting had a difficult time trying to find content and were lost within the sections.

We worked with Jamie Spooner on the architecture of our site. She met with our each department on their content needs to make sure our finalized navigation reflected both the needs of the Zoo and departments as well as the needs of our site visitors. As a result our site is extremely easy to use and we continue to get compliments on how the content is presented! Thank you!

San Francisco Zoo

The San Francisco Zoo is a non profit organization serving residents and tourists in the greater Bay Area. The previous Web site was structured like a giant maze with pages linking deep into the site making it hard for site visitors to locate where they were or how to get back. The content structure was also not intuitive. Plus, business goals had changed since 2001. New features needed to be incorporated to address these needs.

Jamie met with the Web marketing committee which included a representative from each department. She facilitated an exercise to help everyone agree on a hierarchy of navigation and sections that best suit the needs of site visitors.
