About Us

Performance UI is the sister company to Planeteria, Inc. an 8-year old Technology and Marketing company based in Northern California. Jamie Spooner, founder of Planeteria, Inc. is also the founder of Performance UI.

Before starting Planeteria, Inc., Jamie worked at Microsoft for 7 years as a Lead Design Program Manager. Her most noteworthy accomplishments there include the design of the Windows Media Guide Web site, the design of Microsoft.com's second Web site, the design of the Windows 98 site launch (over 1000 Web pages), and several marketing presentation designs for Bill Gates. She holds a patent for an Internet Radio Toolbar designed for Microsoft. Previously, Jamie held positions at two Boston advertising firms and was fortunate to gain a great deal of experience in marketing products and services to businesses of all kinds, including American Express, AT&T, Digital Equipment Corporation and The Boston Symphony. She also taught design for one year in Switzerland. Jamie is a graduate of Smith College.

Jamie brings 16 years of marketing experience to both companies. She is an expert in branding, marketing, design and Web site usability. Jamie is also an educator, which supports her consulting skills. She has presented workshops and seminars to businesses all over the Redwood Empire through the Small Business Development Center where she was one of 17 consultants. She also presented her "Business Web Sites That Work" seminar to the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and was featured as a guest expert in "Peak Success Seminars" online forum. She continues to provide two popular workshops "How to Target Your Audience" and "Business Web Sites That Work" as well as offer individual and group Web site Consulting.

Jamie has been working exclusively in the Internet industry for 13 years. She says, "I remember my friend Mark telling me 'Jamie, you have to learn this hypertext mark up language. It's called HTML and it's going to be big someday.' So I did learn this, and applied my marketing and design skills to this new media. I was mapping out Web site standards when companies were still sending out direct mail flyers. " Thirteen years in the industry has given Jamie the natural ability to assess Web sites usability. She says, "Companies spend tens of thousands of dollars on Web sites that don't work. It's crazy. "90% of the business that goes to Planeteria, Inc, is redesign. Companies get redesigns eventually because they realize their Web sites do not work for one reason or another and they are not reaching their audience. I started Performance UI, not to market Planeteria, Inc. specifically, but instead to offer a targeted service to help businesses assess Web site usability issues and map out strategic plans to redesign their sites. The site redesigns can certainly be done by Planeteria, Inc. but this is not required. Businesses should always get three bids on their Web site redesigns."
